1. Use Garlic For Pain Relief
Garlic is a wonderful herb and has been used for medicinal purposes since a long time. Garlic is common household ingredient that not only makes your food delicious but also relieves your tooth pain very efficiently. Garlic cloves, when crushed release a substance named Alicin which helps in providing relief from an excruciating tooth pain.
- To relieve tooth pain, chop garlic into fine pieces and let it sit for about ten minutes.
- Apply on the painful area directly. Make sure not to over use it as too much garlic can cause burning sensation.
- Leave it on for a couple of minutes and rinse with warm salt water.
- Keeping a clove of garlic in between the aching tooth may also help in providing some relief.
- For a quicker relief, you can also add a bit of salt to crushed garlic and apply it on the troubled tooth.

2. Use A Salt Water Rinse

All you need to do is mix half a teaspoon of salt with a glass of lukewarm water and rinse your mouth with it. It can also reduce inflammation and heal any oral wounds. Ideally it is advised to rinse your mouth after every meal, every morning when you wake up and also before you go to bed every night.
3. Clove Oil Is An Age Old Remedy
This is the most commonly known home remedy for toothache. Clove oil has been used to cure tooth pain for thousands of years. Cloves are used as a natural remedy to numb down nerves. But you need to be careful about using too much of clove oil as it may sting and worsen a wound if used in large quantities. The best way is to put a few drops of clove oil on a ball of cotton and apply on the painful tooth until the pain reduces. If the taste of clove or its aroma bothers you, you can mix it with a carrier oil to tone it down. You can also chew a piece of clove for about half an hour to reduce the pain. Using a mouthwash, made using clove oil mixed in glass water on regular basis can cure most tooth troubles and helps in keeping your teeth healthy.
4. Apply Ginger and Cayenne Paste
Ginger and cayenne – both are popular hot spices and conveniently available in most homes. To sooth a tooth pain, all you need to do is Mix equal quantities of these two hot spices with enough water to make a smooth paste. Roll a small ball of cotton into this paste and place on to your painful tooth. Avoid touching your tongue and gums. Leave this on for as long as you can stand or till the pain subsides. Both these spices can also be used separately as they both are very effective painkillers and are also efficient in reducing swelling caused due to inflammation.
